Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science or Social Services; RN options noted with related education paths.
• For states allowing therapist roles, a Master’s degree in a therapeutic field is preferred.
• Minimum 1+ year of clinical/observational experience in the facility’s specialty.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate admissions and assessment processes for incoming patients.
• Respond to inquiries about the facility within policy timeframes.
• Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments and communicate recommendations.
• Collaborate with medical and psychiatric staff to ensure appropriate admissions.
• Coordinate admission/transfer between levels of care within the facility.
• Communicate projected admissions to internal representatives promptly.
• Perform insurance benefit verifications and share information with patients and staff.
• Gather admission documentation from external sources and secure initial pre-authorization.
• Assist therapists with concurrent reviews with insurance companies for continued treatment.
• Coordinate peer-to-peer reviews and share results with the treatment team.
• Provide accurate ongoing assessment of patient status in admissions.
• Communicate treatment recommendations to other treatment teams.
• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers; prioritize patient safety.
• Demonstrate urgency in patient safety and excellent customer service.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science or Social Services Field; may also be an RN; Associate’s degree in nursing may be minimum requirement for RN case; LPN/LVN training may be minimum for LPN/LVN option

Master’s degree in a therapeutic field preferred for states where therapist may act in this role

One or more years’ clinical or observational experience in the facility’s specialty
