PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Clinical professional responsible for facilitating admissions, clinical intake assessments, and utilization review processes to ensure continuity of care and optimal resource utilization for patients.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Respond to inquiries about the facility within policy timeframes.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Perform benefit eligibility checks and communicate findings to the business office and patients.
• Collaborate with medical and psychiatric personnel for appropriate referral recommendations.
• Coordinate admissions and transfers within the facility.
• Maintain knowledge of milieu management.
• Communicate projected admissions promptly.
• Ensure receipt of all clinical information prior to admission.
• Complete pre-admission assessments and communicate disposition recommendations.
• Prepare and maintain accurate medical records for authorization purposes.
• Complete pre-authorization for treatment and admission within payor guidelines.
• Admit patients in the registration system and complete all forms.
• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude, prioritizing patient safety.

Other Functions

• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in a social services field required (if allowed by state).
• Master's degree in a related field or RN preferred.
• 3+ years experience in mental/behavioral health preferred.
• Experience with managed care pre-certification, level of care assessments, and utilization preferred.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

• Current licensure (RN, CAC, or other as per state requirements).
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
• First aid may be required based on state or facility policies.
