Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for an Admissions Counselor II who provides professional guidance on student admission, recruits new students, and builds connections with school counselors and educational partners.

You will travel to high schools and conferences, counsel students and parents on admission requirements and financial aid, review applications, and assist in planning recruitment events on and off campus, including virtual programs.

• Provides written updates of territorial numbers and procedural goals.
• Keeps university enrollment goals as the focus of all recruitment activities and maintains current metrics to measure success and progress toward stated goals.
• Builds relationships with school counselors, students and families within that region and serves as a direct liaison between the students and the campus.
• Develops and nurtures relationships with community partners, strengthening connection and providing outstanding service to each.
• Travels to conferences, high schools, colleges and other learning institutions to promote admission requirements and procedures at UTA.
• Counsels students and parents on admission requirements and financial aid processes.
• Reviews student applications for admission and counsels applicants regarding their eligibility status.
• Provides information to prospective students and parents on specific educational opportunities of the University, both on and off the campus.
• Replies to phone calls, correspondence and e-mail from prospective students, their family members and/or other educational partners.
• Prepares professional, thorough correspondence in response to inquiries submitted to the office or the staff member.
• Assists in the planning and implementing of all recruitment functions; assist with events, both on and off campus, as well as virtual events; assists other areas/departments on campus with recruitment efforts.
• Performs other duties assigned.

Purpose of Position
The Admissions Counselor II provides professional advice and counseling regarding student admission. Responsible for the recruitment of new students, including performing activities that will generate prospects, applicants, and new student enrollment. Builds professional connections with school counselors and educational partners that promote UTA and a college bound message. Serves as a professional liaison for students and families as they navigate the admission process.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any business or related field or four (4) years of equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of professional work experience in admissions, recruitment, customer service or academic advising.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Software.

• Ability to multitask in a busy office environment with multiple interruptions, including high volume phone calls and monitoring multiple email accounts.
• Ability and knowledge to use standard office equipment.

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm
• Some flexibility available.
• Minimal evening, weekend events required.
• May require frequent travel for recruiting purposes.
