Job summary

The Rehabilitation Center of Independence is seeking an energetic Admissions Coordinator to manage the admissions process from referral through resident arrival in Independence, MO. You will collaborate with hospitals, physicians, and families to ensure timely admissions and exceptional customer service.

You will tour prospective residents, review referrals, verify insurance, and coordinate with clinical teams to ensure smooth transitions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous healthcare admissions experience preferred.
  • Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, hospital, hospice, assisted living, or healthcare marketing strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Experience with insurance verification and healthcare documentation preferred.
  • Comfortable communicating with hospitals, physicians, families, and community partners.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the admissions process from referral through admission.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from hospitals, physicians, families, and referral sources.
  • Conduct tours for prospective residents and families.
  • Review referrals and screen prospective residents for admission eligibility.
  • Gather and review clinical information to determine admission appropriateness.
  • Verify insurance benefits and financial eligibility prior to admission.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, physicians, case managers, social workers, and other referral partners.
  • Coordinate with hospital discharge planners to facilitate smooth transitions of care.
  • Complete admission documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate admission logistics with nursing and other departments.
  • Help ensure every resident and family receives a welcoming, professional admission experience.
  • Participate in marketing, networking, and community outreach activities.
  • Maintain accurate information in electronic admissions systems.
  • Assist with daily census management and occupancy goals.
  • Participate in morning clinical and admissions meetings.
  • Address resident and family questions or concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Promote the services and capabilities of The Rehabilitation Center of Independence to referral sources and prospective residents.

What You'll Do

The Admissions Coordinator manages the admissions process from initial referral through resident arrival. You'll work closely with hospitals, physicians, case managers, social workers, families, and our clinical team to coordinate timely admissions while providing exceptional customer service.
