Job summary

Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) seeks an Administrator II, System to manage and maintain campus IT infrastructure, focusing on provisioning, configuration, operation, and backup of systems. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in IT and multiple certifications; strong coordination with department managers is expected.

The SA-II will monitor security, perform system maintenance, and lead technical initiatives, ensuring ERP data integrity and availability across GTCC platforms.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information technology (computer science, information systems, programming or other related field).
Seven years of work experience in IT field and five years as a Systems Administrator Level I or II.
MCSE, MCP, Network, INET preferred; CompTIA A+ preferred.

Responsibilities

Provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of GTCC systems hardware and software.
Monitor servers and systems for security, availability, and performance.
Assist and lead project teams, document specifications, and provide technical solutions.
Ensure backups and data restoration of files and ERP data; maintain security and patching.

The System Administrator II (SA-II) is responsible for effectiveprovisioning, installation/configuration, operation, andmaintenance of the GTCC systems hardware, software and relatedinfrastructure. S/He will evaluate and maintain servers and systemsto ensure their proper security, operation and availability. TheSA-II will assist and lead project teams, address technical issuesand offer engineered solutions supporting the college. Theseactivities include technical strategy, research & developmentand maintenance within the documented project life cycle. SystemsAdministrators will monitor systems for proper operation, systemmaintenance, security-breaches. S/He will follow establishedprocess to standardize overall server management; ensuringequipment for system patches and maintenance of software/firmware.S/He will ensure successful backups of both files and ERP data andrestore data as necessary. This position works closely withdepartment managers throughout the college to analyze technologyrequirements, document specifications, and provide technicalsolutions.

Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in information technology (computer science,computer information systems, programming or other relatedfield)

Education Preferred

Master’s degree in information technology (computer science,computer information systems, programming or other relatedfield)

Certifications:

MCSE, MCP, Network , INET preferred
CompTIA A+ preferred

Experience Required

Five years of experience as a Systems Administrator Level I orII
Seven years of work experience in IT field
Three years of experience in administering a virtualenvironment

Experience Preferred

Experience with Ellucian Colleague ERP system administrationstrongly preferred
Experience with Ellucian products, WebAdvisor, Student SelfService, E-Commerce, Colleague Portal, UniData, and ColleagueStudio.
Windows server OS, Mac OS, Linux OS

KSA Required

Demonstrated knowledge in network concepts and communicationprotocols
Demonstrated knowledge of data center storage platforms
Demonstrated knowledge in administrating multipleplatforms
Demonstrated knowledge of of Unix, VMWare ESXi, and WindowsServer Administration including DHCP, DNS, SMTP, Active Directory,vCenter, ESXi and Solaris
Ability to manage multiple projects and associated budgets
Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions,project consequences of proposed actions and implementrecommendations in support of goals.
Strong organization and problem solving skills
