Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp is seeking a Human Resources Administrative Support Specialist in New Jersey to provide essential HR operations support. The role requires coordinating onboarding, records, reporting, and compliance while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

The successful candidate will manage correspondence, scheduling, and HR materials, with experience across SAP, Coupa, Empower, Intelex or FileNet considered a plus. Overtime for outage/restoration may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s in HR/Business preferred.
  • Minimum three years of administrative work experience; HR admin experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with SAP, Coupa, Empower, Intelex, FileNet or related systems is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the HR team including scheduling, correspondence, file maintenance, reporting, and department coordination.
  • Assist with HR programs, onboarding, training coordination, compliance documentation, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, databases, and reporting materials while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Prepare, proofread, and format HR materials using office software and equipment.
  • Support purchasing, invoicing, PO processing, expense reconciliation, and budget tracking.
  • Administer validated applicant testing as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, leaders, candidates, vendors, and external partners.
  • Support outage/restoration activities as required, including evenings and weekends.

About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. Position Summary: The Human Resources Administrative Support Specialist provides administrative, operational, and customer service support to the Human Resources department. This position assists with HR processes, employee inquiries, records management, reporting, compliance tracking, and department coordination while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources team, including scheduling, correspondence, file maintenance, reporting, mail distribution, telephone reception, and department coordination.
  • Assist with routine HR programs, procedures, employee inquiries, onboarding activities, training coordination, compliance documentation, and related employee lifecycle processes.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, tracking tools, databases, personnel files, and reporting materials in accordance with company procedures and confidentiality requirements.
  • Prepare, proofread, and format correspondence, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other HR materials using appropriate office equipment and software.
  • Support purchasing, invoice and purchase order processing, expense reconciliation, budget tracking, record retention, background checks, driving records, training assignments, and other department administrative needs.
  • Administer validated applicant testing, including EEI testing, as needed.
  • Use strong communication, customer service, judgment, and organizational skills to support employees, leaders, candidates, vendors, and external partners.
  • Support outage and storm restoration activities as required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of three years of administrative work experience required; HR administrative experience preferred.

Skills: Advanced knowledge of administrative practices, procedures, and office support functions.

Must pass the Company's EEI Support and Administrative Selection System (SASS) test, if required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Suites including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Experience with SAP, Coupa, Empower, Intelex, FileNet, or related systems preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and producing accurate work.

Demonstrated discretion, sound judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Ability to work overtime as required for outage and storm restoration, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
