Job summary

FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., is seeking an HR Administrative Support Specialist to provide administrative, operational, and customer service support to the Human Resources department in Akron.

The role covers onboarding, records management, reporting, compliance tracking, and coordination, with duties including scheduling, file maintenance, purchasing support, and testing administration, while upholding confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of administrative work experience required; HR administrative experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of administrative practices, procedures, and office support functions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suites including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; SAP, Coupa, Empower, Intelex, FileNet or related systems preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and producing accurate work.
  • Demonstrated discretion, sound judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work overtime as required for outage and storm restoration, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources team, including scheduling, correspondence, file maintenance, reporting, mail distribution, telephone reception, and department coordination.
  • Assist with routine HR programs, procedures, employee inquiries, onboarding activities, training coordination, compliance documentation, and related employee lifecycle processes.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, tracking tools, databases, personnel files, and reporting materials in accordance with company procedures and confidentiality requirements.
  • Prepare, proofread, and format correspondence, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other HR materials using appropriate office equipment and software.
  • Support purchasing, invoice and purchase order processing, expense reconciliation, budget tracking, record retention, background checks, driving records, training assignments, and other department administrative needs.
  • Administer validated applicant testing, including EEI testing, as needed.
  • Use strong communication, customer service, judgment, and organizational skills to support employees, leaders, candidates, vendors, and external partners.
  • Support outage and storm restoration activities as required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Summary

The Human Resources Administrative Support Specialist provides administrative, operational, and customer service support to the Human Resources department.   • Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
