Description

The Kentucky State Treasury manages taxpayer funds and upholds good government through efficiency, teamwork,and integrity. As a small agency with three divisions, each of which contributes to the Commonwealth'sfinancial responsibilities, the agency offers opportunities to develop specialized skills and collaborate withcolleagues at all levels. The Unclaimed Property Division’s mission is to return unclaimed property to its rightful owners.

The State Treasury seeks an Administrative Specialist Senior for the Claims Section of the Unclaimed PropertyDivision. This role requires interpreting and applying laws and regulations to processes, as well as in approving complexclaims, including those involving stocks and mutual funds to ensure property is returned to its rightfulowner.

The ideal candidate has research experience and can verify claims with supporting documentation. In thisrole, the candidate will use attention to detail and analytical skills to help individuals recover propertythey may not realize they have. The role is rewarding, as many claimants appreciate the property being foundand returned to them, and the customer service provided by the staff throughout the claims process. This position will work with a supportive team that collaborates to achieve the division’s mission, especially during peakperiods.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
