The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy is seeking an Administrative Specialist in the Drinking Water Program. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and compliance of public water systems (PWS). This position is responsible for managing PWS emergency contact lists, ensuring that all relevant personnel are updated and accessible in critical situations. This teammate also facilitates changes to the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) application, ensuring accurate data entry and timely updates to maintain regulatory compliance. Additionally, the role involves coordinating water system permitting processes, supporting the team in the review and approval of new permits and modifications. Through attention to detail and organizational skills, our Administrative Specialist contributes to the overall safety and reliability of drinking water systems.

Work schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Flexible schedule and 10-hour workdays allowed after six-month probation and with management approval.

Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: At least one year of post high school coursework or experience in: administration, office management, accounting, finance, planning, policy analysis and implementation, administrative/management analysis, operations research, program evaluation, research, or similar fields or in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.
Preferred Qualifications: Excellent typing and computer skills; Ability to quickly learn a wide range of software applications; Ability to manage work in a fast-paced environment; Ability to follow detailed protocols closely
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of: Microsoft Suite, Certified mailing procedures, Document management systems, public water systems
Skill in: Written and verbal communication, time management, data management, typing and computer navigation
Ability to: Quickly and accurately enter data, juggle competing priorities, manage large amounts of documents
