  • Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate coursework in public administration, business administration, or other acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years.
  • OR Two years of increasingly responsible professional administrative services experience with the State of Tennessee.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Human Resources Point-of-Contact for the Office of Emergency Services, which includes handling personnel transactions, onboarding, and timekeeping.
  • Manage multiple law enforcement databases.
  • Manage procurement purchases, such as emergency service/law enforcement uniforms and/or equipment. This may include utilizing State-Wide-Contracts (SWC) and/or agency contracts, and will include entering requisitions, issuing purchase orders, and receipting invoices.
  • May supervise full-time and part-time staff.
  • Assist with reserving venues within or outside of state parks that will host large and/or small single/multiday training sessions across the state at various times annually.
  • Manage various property assigned to the office such as weapons, vehicles, and other emergency service items. This includes ensuring property is tagged properly and conducting specified audits as requested.
  • Assist the Chief with other administrative tasks as needed.

Overview

Under general supervision, is responsible for professional staff administrative work of considerable difficulty in support of line operations; and performs related work as required. Incumbents in this class function at the advanced working level and may supervise professional and sub professional staff in accomplishing administrative services and related departmental functions. This class differs from that of Admin Services Assistant 2 in that incumbents of the latter function at the working level and perform work of lesser scope and complexity. This class differs from that of Admin Services Assistant 4 in that incumbents of the latter function at the lead level and may supervise.
