This position supports key administrative, personnel, and budget functions within the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. You help guide processes that ensure compliance, organization, and consistency across headquarters and field offices. As an Administrative Officer 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Personnel Oversight:Manage hiring actions, review job descriptions, and maintain personnel files and reports
- County Program Review:Evaluate merit system submissions, conduct on-site reviews, and prepare compliance findings
- Timekeeping Management:Run timekeeping reports, resolve payroll issues, and interpret leave rules
- Performance Monitoring:Oversee employee review processes and track evaluation submissions
- Onboarding Coordination:Guide onboarding and offboarding steps, assist supervisors, and ensure proper documentation
- Budget Support:Monitor appropriations, review expenditures, and assist with program budget development

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week, and report to 303 Walnut Street in Harrisburg, PA, for your two in-office days. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Administrative Officer 1; or
- Three years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and a bachelor's degree; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
