Job summary

The Southern Maine Worker’s Center seeks an Administrative Manager for a part-time, hybrid role based in Portland, Maine. You will support in-person and remote office operations, manage mail, log checks, and coordinate with the board.

This position includes a 1-month onboarding and a six-month contract with potential extension. Compensation is $22,000 over 6 months for 16–20 hours per week, with health insurance through Community Health Options and a $600 wellness stipend.

  • Ability to travel when needed to in and around Portland, Maine

  • Note Taking (Limited to Board and Transition Committee Meetings)

Job description

The Southern Maine Worker’s Center is looking to fill the role of Administrative (Admin) Manager. This is proposed as a part‑time position, working in collaboration with the full‑time staff. The Admin Manager will manage SMWC’s administrative needs as well as serve as a liaison to the board of directors. This position will also be responsible for assisting staff with maintaining compliance with state and federal nonprofit regulations, including coordinating with staff on financial matters. This position will have a one (1) month onboarding process in order to orient to our internal structure. This is a hybrid position (in person/remote) and will require the employee to make regular trips to our office in Portland, ME.

This contract position is eligible for extension after the initial six months, dependent on review.

Proposed contract would compensate $22,000 over 6 months, for 16-20 hours per week.

  • Paid time off includes 20 vacation days and 10 sick days annually, plus holidays including a full week of office closure between December 24 and the first week of January each year.
  • This position comes with health insurance via Community Health Options and a $600 annual wellness stipend.
