Job summary

University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) seeks a capable Administrative Assistant I to support the Department of Education with moderately complex duties. Responsibilities

  • M akes travel arrangements following general instructions and campus procedures.
  • Performs necessary follow-up for vouchers, expense reports, and reimbursements.
  • Orders supplies and equipment; oversees equipment maintenance.
  • Assists with department budget, updating department accounts, and creating routine reports.
  • Assists with admissions-related outreach, including programs and events for prospective students.
  • Assists with faculty onboarding and separation processes.
  • Prepares appointment forms and personnel paperwork.
  • Processes purchase requisitions and procurement requests.
  • Coordinate purchasing documentation and reimbursement requests.
  • Coordinates adjunct hiring documentation.
  • Provides administrative support to adjunct faculty.
  • Provides necessary updates to course schedules.
  • Gathers and consolidates background information for reports, utilizing available resources.

Job Description Summary

Organization's Summary Statement: The Department of Education invites applicant to apply for a full-time, nonexempt position with full benefits. The position will report to the Department Chair. The Administrative Assistant I will support the Department of Education performing moderately complex administrative duties. Incumbents have responsibility for office operations and function independently, where procedures have been established with moderate consequence of error.

Salary Range: $45,375 - $51,783

  • Tuition remission benefits for eligible employees and, subject to USM policies, spouses and dependents at University System of Maryland institutions.
  • Non-exempt positions start at 11 days annual per year, sick leave 15 days per year, personal leave 3 days per year). Overtime, shift-differential and on- call pay and paid holidays.

Preferences
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and G (Google) Suites.
  • Experience providing administrative support in a higher education setting.
  • Ability to interact with internal and external parties in a courteous and efficient manner; and to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED AND 2 years experience providing administrative support.

Required Job Details
