The Church Receptionist / Administrative Assistant serves as the first point of contact for members, guests, clergy, and visitors. This role provides front-office support, administrative coordination, and operational assistance to ensure the church office functions efficiently and professionally. The position requires a warm, welcoming demeanor, strong organizational skills, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a faith-based environment.
Schedule
- Part-time 9am-3pm (typically 3 days per week)
- Occasional volunteer support on Sundays or special events, as needed

Reception & Member Engagement
- Greet all visitors, members, and staff with professionalism.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls, emails, and inquiries appropriately.
- Provide general information regarding church services, ministries, events, and office hours.
- Maintain a welcoming and orderly reception area.
Administrative Support
- Provide direct administrative support to church leadership and office staff.
- Schedule appointments and manage calendars as assigned.
- Assist with document preparation, copying, filing, and data entry.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with updating member information.
Office Operations
- Assist with day-to-day office operations to ensure continuity during staff absences.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail and deliveries.
- Monitor office supplies and communicate needs through established ordering procedures.
- Assist with inventory tracking when requested.
- Support internal communication by relaying messages accurately and promptly.
Confidentiality & Professional Conduct
- Handle sensitive member, pastoral, and administrative information with strict confidentiality.
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion in all interactions.
- Adhere to church policies, procedures, and values always.
Event & Ministry Support
- Provide administrative assistance for church events and ministry activities as assigned.
- Coordinate with ministry leaders and departments to ensure smooth communication.
- Assist with the preparation of materials for special services, programs, and meetings.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or College Graduate.
- Previous receptionist, administrative, or office support experience A MUST.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic office technology (email (Google Suites), MS Office Applications, phone systems).
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Working knowledge of filing, documentation, and record management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a church or faith-based organization.
- Familiarity with church management software or databases.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
