Job summary

ND Health and Human Services in North Dakota is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Criminal Background Check Unit to help prepare fingerprint-based background checks for processing and completion.

You will review forms and fingerprint cards for accuracy, request missing documents for interstate requests, and communicate with agencies, providers, and field staff by phone or email. You will also manage unit voicemail, emails, and maintain fingerprint files.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or GED) and at least two years of clerical or office administrative experience.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of standard office equipment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Standard.
  • Attention to detail and proofreading skills are essential for reviewing documents.

Job description

ND Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Criminal Background Check Unit is seeking a highly professional Administrative Assistant, to help prepare fingerprint-based background checks for processing and completion.

As an Administrative Assistant for the CBCU, every day you will review incoming electronic and/or paper authorization forms and fingerprint cards for completion and accuracy. You'll request additional documents as required for interstate record requests, and communicate with requesting agencies, providers, and field staff via telephone and/or email correspondence. Also, you'll oversee unit voice mails and emails and maintain physical fingerprint files.

To thrive in this role, you must have the ability to handle multiple high-priority tasks, experience using general office equipment and computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Standard. This position requires the skills necessary for working with a high degree of confidential information and the ability to adjust to changes at any given time. Work is expected to be performed with a high degree of professionalism, integrity, accuracy, and efficiency.

To be considered for this position, you are required to have a high school diploma (or GED) and at least two (2) years of clerical or office administrative experience. You must demonstrate basic computer skills and knowledge of standard office equipment. As this position consistently reviews documents, attention to detail and proofreading skills are essential.

Location

This position is located onsite at the North Dakota State Capital in Bismarck.
