Qualifications

  • Two years of medical office experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorization processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Nevada insurance plans and requirements.
  • Experience with medical records, medical terminology, and/or medical coding preferred.
  • Experience coordinating patient appointments, procedures, or specialty healthcare services preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • English reading/writing; bilingual abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate Interventional Radiology procedures in hospital and outpatient settings.
  • Communicate with patients regarding prior examinations, relevant medical history, procedure preparation, and scheduling protocols.
  • Obtain and review required medical records, prior imaging, orders, and supporting documentation necessary for scheduled procedures.
  • Complete insurance eligibility verification and prior authorization requirements accurately and in a timely manner, with thorough documentation.
  • Schedule, coordinate, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments while communicating necessary updates and messages to appropriate staff.
  • Obtain and communicate insurance benefit information, including applicable copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and patient financial responsibility.
  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information and thoroughly document all required information within the RIS system.
  • Inform patients of applicable balances due in accordance with Pueblo Medical Imaging procedures, including balances exceeding $100.
  • Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally while providing excellent service to patients, referring offices, hospitals, and other callers.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with IR radiologists and clinical staff regarding procedure scheduling, patient needs, and changes to the schedule.
  • Help identify and resolve scheduling, authorization, documentation, or coordination issues that could delay patient care.
  • Train and support peers and new team members by sharing knowledge, demonstrating best practices, and helping maintain consistency in departmental processes.
  • Perform other duties, special projects, and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Summary

The Admin II – Interventional Radiology Coordinator is responsible for proficiently performing the administrative functions necessary to coordinate Interventional Radiology patients and procedures within Pueblo Medical Imaging’s outpatient facilities and affiliated hospital settings.

This position supports the IR patient journey by coordinating scheduling, insurance verification and authorization, medical records, procedure preparation, and communication among patients, radiologists, referring providers, hospitals, and other members of the care team.

What You’ll Do
  • Schedule and coordinate Interventional Radiology procedures in both hospital and outpatient settings.
  • Communicate with patients regarding prior examinations, relevant medical history, procedure preparation, and applicable scheduling protocols.
  • Obtain and review required medical records, prior imaging, orders, and supporting documentation necessary for scheduled procedures.
