Job summary

Virginia Peninsula Community College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member for Allied Health Nursing Studies – Registered Nurse (Adjunct Instructor) to deliver instruction across day, evening, or weekend formats. The role involves designing courses, assessing students, and maintaining campus presence while communicating promptly with students and staff.

Required are an unrestricted RN license in Virginia (or higher), a BSN or related degree, CPR certification, and a passion for student-centered

Qualifications

Current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in Virginia or higher medical license.
Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, Nursing Administration, Health Informatics, or another related degree from a regionally accredited institution/program.
Current CPR certification and documentation of all routine healthcare employee immunizations.
Passion for the discipline and commitment to a student-centered philosophy supporting academic excellence for diverse learners.
Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators, both individually and as part of a team.
Willingness to serve the needs of traditional and non-traditional students from a variety of backgrounds and age groups.
Ability to modify instructional methods and strategies when appropriate to meet diverse student needs.
Plan and organize instruction to maximize documented student learning.
Adopt methods that fairly measure student progress toward learning outcomes.
Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters to division administrator each semester according to established deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience and/or strong interest in teaching and inspiring adult learners to fulfill the College’s mission to change lives and empower students to succeed.
Ability to travel to both campuses and various clinical sites.

Responsibilities

Design and delivery of instruction for day and evening classes.
Responsible for student assessment and grading.
Maintains adequate on-campus presence.
Provides timely communication with students, staff and administrators of the College.
