Job summary

Tidewater Community College seeks a Nursing Adjunct to teach courses at Portsmouth, including in-person and Zoom/online formats. The adjunct will plan, organize, teach, and provide feedback to students to promote program outcomes.

The role requires a Virginia-licensed RN or LPN with extensive nursing experience and background in curriculum development and online instruction. Teaching experience and knowledge of Canvas are preferred.

Qualifications

Must be a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse with a current, unrestricted license in Virginia or a multistate licensure.
Minimum of five years of nursing patient care experience.
Requires minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience.
Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Experience in curriculum development in nursing education in a higher education environment.
Knowledge of CANVAS or other learning management systems.

Responsibilities

Create a learning environment that facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in a discipline and/or program.
Aligns course activities with learning outcomes and uses active learning strategies to foster student engagement; employs technology and materials supporting outcomes; provides prompt, meaningful feedback.
Deliver instruction to meet stated learning outcomes; follow college policies for surveys of instruction; conduct meaningful assessments and analyze evaluations to implement improvements.
May include daytime, evening and weekend work based on course assignment.
Hold at least 1 office hour per week for each course assigned.
