Job summary

Hocking College is seeking an Adjunct Nursing Instructor to deliver theory, clinical and/or lab instruction under the Dean of Allied Health and Nursing. You will develop outcomes, manage instructional activities, advise students, and maintain records per college policy, while ensuring safe conditions and complying with ACEN/OBN standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved RN education program as required by state rules.
• Two years nursing practice as a registered nurse.

Adjunct Nursing Instructor

Position Purpose

(Theory and/or Clinical and/or Lab) – Under the direct supervision of the Dean of Allied Health and Nursing and Nursing Program Manager, the successful candidate will perform the following operations: Provide instructional services; Perform academic advising; Engage in continuous professional development in both teaching and discipline – specific theory and practice; Participate in department activities, meetings, ACEN and OBN compliance; institutional activities; Maintain a safe working area and conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

PROVIDES INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES:

Assists with development of course outcomes and curriculum which are consistent with Academic Affairs, department, and technology / program goals; convey course outcomes and expectations to students according to college policy; organize and manage instructional activities; use appropriate learner-centered instructional methods; provide evaluation methods appropriate to stated outcomes; evaluate student learning in a fair manner; posts and maintains sufficient office hours compatible with student schedules; maintain accurate records of evaluation and course work including attendance; submit grades as required and on time; regularly seeks feedback on course delivery and student learning; participate in college evaluation system of instructional services; revise / update courses regularly, contribute to the assessment of student academic achievement. Work cooperatively with others to accomplish the goals of the department and technology; At all times maintains a safe working area and conditions.

Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills

• Completion of an approved registered nursing education program in a jurisdiction as defined in paragraph (S) of rule 4723-5-01 of the Administrative Code.
• Experience for at least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
• A baccalaureate degree in nursing or enrollment in a graduate level course in a program for registered nurses to obtain a master's or doctoral degree with a major in nursing.
• Current, valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio.
• Master’s Degree in nursing is preferred.
• Degree must be from a regionally or nationally accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent as verified by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.

Evidence of professional development in the field of concentration as demonstrated by activity in professional associations, consultative practice, participation in seminars, workshops, and formal coursework, and individual reading and research.
