Job description

Position Summary

ADJUNCT – NURSE EDUCATION: This position is responsible for supervising nursing students in the clinical environment, evaluating clinical performance, grading all clinical assignments under the supervision of an assigned master’s prepared faculty. The position may include assisting students with patient care skills practice in onsite skills labs and may involve assigned courses in various times and locations, including online courses and dual-credit/early college classes. The position requires evidence of health care provider CPR, yearly tuberculin skin tests, and other required immunizations per nursing program policy.

Responsibilities

• Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
• Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting course outcomes.
• Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
• Coordinate with clinicians at clinical site to assign student patient assignments.
• Assist students in performing duties at clinical site and answer their questions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and five (5) years of clinical work experience; assists in course instruction under supervision of Master’s or Doctoral-prepared faculty.
• OR
• Master’s degree with minimum 18 graduate semester hours in Nursing and three (3) years of clinical work experience; teaches nursing courses including clinical supervision in facilities of 10-15 students per Texas Board of Nursing requirements.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Texas (certification required).
• Current CPR / BLS certification for Healthcare Provider (certification required).
• Current negative Tuberculin (TB) and other required immunizations as stipulated by healthcare agencies (documentation required prior to first day of employment).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN).
• Five (5) years clinical work experience.
• Experience teaching at the secondary or college level.
