Adjunct, Mathematics (Part time)

Position Summary and Qualifications

Saint Joseph's University Department of Mathematics seeks dedicated, capable, and experienced adjunct faculty to complement the work of full-time faculty. The position is part‑time, non‑tenure track, and is semester‑to‑semester with no guarantee of consecutive appointments. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the department chair. Compensation is commensurate with educational credentials, professional experience, and instructional background. Adjunct instructors are bound to the terms and conditions of employment at Saint Joseph’s University, including the Faculty Handbook. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide support and guidance to students.
• Instruct an assigned course, providing syllabi and other instructional materials.
• Use the university learning management system to deliver instruction.
• Staff up to two sections of 3‑credit courses.
• Teach mostly in‑person courses offered on the Hawk Hill (Philadelphia) or Lancaster campuses.
• Courses may include precalculus, introductory calculus, introductory statistics, or similar courses.
• Accommodate preferences whenever possible.

Minimum Qualification

• Master's degree in mathematics or a related area.
• Some experience with instruction at the college level.

Physical and Other Requirements

• May require standing for long periods of time.
• May require talking for long periods of time.
• May require carrying course materials.

Modality

Fully online or in‑person only.

Pay Transparency

Adjunct compensation is determined by education and relevant work experience.
