Position Summary

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, as well as mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned. Teaching modalities may be face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.

Required Education

Applicants must provide minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards, which normally include an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in the approved discipline.
  • Provide instruction that facilitates student acquisition of specified learning outcomes.
  • Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment in all teaching modalities.
  • Provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes.
  • Engage in instructional preparation and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Respond to student communications promptly.
  • Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior and be available to students by appointment.
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
  • Assess courses at departmental and institutional levels.
  • Complete any required training and other related duties as assigned.
