Adjunct Instructor – Developmental Reading & Writing [Wise County Campus]

Position Summary

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool available to the departmental search committee for consideration when a need arises. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool on an as‑needed basis. If review of your qualifications results in a decision to pursue your candidacy, you will be contacted.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students both inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment across modalities, which may be face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Hours vary and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. Faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.

Required Education

All faculty members must provide minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards, which normally include an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with the application.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the approved discipline using face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit modalities.
  • Prepare instructional materials and deliver them in a manner that achieves the specific learning outcomes for assigned courses.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, respond to student communications promptly, and submit final grades on time.
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior, be available to students by appointment, and attend adjunct faculty meetings.
  • Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels, complete required training, and perform other duties as assigned.
