Job description

Adjunct Instructor- Art [Wise County Campus]

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include:

  • Teaching courses in the approved discipline across various modalities (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual credit instruction).
  • Providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses.
  • Mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Creating and maintaining an effective learning environment for each course.
  • Engaging in instructional preparation and providing timely feedback to students.
  • Conducting assessment of student performance and submitting final grades promptly.
  • Participating in adjunct faculty meetings, assessing courses at departmental and institutional levels, and completing required training.
  • Maintaining ethical and professional behavior and being available to students by appointment.

Required Education: An earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with the application.

Required Experience: Not specifically listed, but applicants should demonstrate teaching experience in undergraduate courses in the discipline.

Additional Requirements: This is a security‑sensitive position requiring a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be registered with the Selective Service System.
