Job summary

The University of Kansas invites qualified scholars and professionals to apply for part-to-full-time instructor positions within the School of Public Affairs & Administration. This instructional, adjunct faculty role is not tenure track and renewal depends on needs, funding, and performance.

Courses range 8–16 weeks depending on programmatic needs and delivery mode. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate or graduate courses, design syllabi, provide feedback, and adhere to KU policies.

Qualifications

  • MA in discipline or relevant field OR BA in discipline with 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • PhD in relevant field OR Master’s with 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Record of research, scholarship or achievement in discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a specified number of courses per semester, which may be undergraduate or graduate, in-person, hybrid, or online.
  • Design course content and syllabus in accordance with departmental guidance and KU standards.
  • Prepare for and attend all class meetings; provide timely feedback and instructor/student interaction.
  • Provide instruction for course(s) with online courses matching face-to-face experience.
  • Develop and administer assignments and tests, evaluate student work, and assign grades.
  • Be available for students; include office hours and timely responses outside set times.
  • Adhere to departmental, college and university policies.

Education

MA in discipline or relevant field
BA in discipline and 5 years of relevant work experience
PhD in relevant field
Master’s and 7 years of relevant work experience
Record of research, scholarship or achievement in discipline
