Job summary

Daley College in Chicago is seeking a Part-Time Electrical Instructor to teach entry-level electrician skills and support student success in a hands-on learning environment.

The role emphasizes safety, code compliance, and clear assessment and feedback. A related degree or Journeyman Card is required, plus teaching or supervisory experience. Salary is paid per contact hour with benefits per college policy.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent credit hours in a related field from an accredited college or university, or a Certificate in the related field with years of related experience; OR Journeyman Card OR two industry-recognized credentials.
  • Five to seven years of electrical experience preferred.
  • Active Journeyman Card preferred.
  • Teaching or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Work experience in a teaching environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of current safety standards related to the classroom/shop and building maintenance trade.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Brightspace preferred.
  • Exhibit sensitivity to a multicultural student population and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, work under pressure, and exercise flexibility as needed.
  • Ability to promote cooperation between students and educational personnel and to conduct verbal and written instructions with proper assistance to the instructor.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to new tasks with little notice.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population and operate related tools and equipment of the assigned class.

  • Instruct students about OSHA safety and the National Electrical Code compliance.
  • Supervise students in classroom, laboratory, and shop areas.
  • Assist students in understanding lesson plans and project objectives; provide feedback.
  • Prepare, maintain, distribute, and collect equipment and supplies required to meet objectives.
  • Develop and revise courses and instructional materials as necessary.
  • Supervise cleaning and trash removal from training/shop area.
  • Create a purposeful, orderly learning environment.
  • Assist in solving student issues and maintain attendance records.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and planning sessions.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures and CCC standards.

Instructor Part Time- Electrical
Daley College

Daley College's Professional and Personal Development Department is seeking a Part-Time Electrical Instructor to teach and support an effective learning environment. The instructor will provide well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair assessment of learning, clear documentation and feedback on student progress, and support academic success for all students.

Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on training for entry-level electrician skills such as Ohm’s Law, electrical concepts, AC/DC Theory, hand/power tools, measuring instruments, basic wiring, reading schematics, circuit construction, conduit bending, cable installation, box/panel work, code compliance, service installation, troubleshooting, motor theory, control/Start/Stop circuits and renewable energy basics.
  • Instruct students about the importance of OSHA safety and the National Electrical Code compliance.
  • Supervise students in classroom, laboratory, and shop areas to ensure adherence to class rules and safety procedures.
  • Assist students in understanding lesson plans and project objectives. Provide effective feedback to students.
  • Prepare, maintain, distribute, and collect equipment and other supply materials required to meet lesson objectives.
  • Develop and revise courses and instructional materials as necessary.
  • Supervise the cleaning and trash removal from the training/shop area.
  • Create a purposeful, orderly, and supportive learning environment.
