Job summary

Responsibilities include effective instruction, up-to-date course materials, accurate record-keeping, assessment-driven teaching, and supportive student counseling.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Knowledge of Blackboard or similar online teaching platforms preferred.

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner.
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.
  • Constructs classroom materials that support course goals.
  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction.
  • Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
  • Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses up-to-date.
  • Attends professional development opportunities when possible.

Job description

Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Political Science classes. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.,

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance

  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Knowledge of Blackboard, an on line teaching tool is preferred
Requirements

Master's degree in Political Science OR a Master's degree with 18 graduate-level course hours in Political Science
