Job summary

The College seeks a philosophy instructor to teach and advance curriculum, assess student learning, and participate in program evaluation. The role requires collaboration to maintain academic standards and contribute to college activities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Philosophy or 18 graduate semester hours in Philosophy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Professional and Canvas LMS.
• Ability to interact with diverse populations and varying education levels.
• Willingness to work a fluctuating schedule including evenings and weekends.
• Transcripts required; US degrees must be accredited; international degrees require NACES evaluation.
• Employment contingent upon drug test and background check.
• Ability to reach, grasp, stoop, bend, and operate a video display terminal.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, proofreading and document accuracy.

• Develop and maintain manuals regarding College policies, procedures, rules, and standards.

• Determine and recommend retention or deletion of courses.
• Develop and coordinate program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates.
• Maintain calendars to track schedules and adjust them as required.
• Assist students with program curriculum, program and course reviews, and articulation activities.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to utilize Canvas Learning Management System and other instructional technologies
• Ability to interact positively with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
• Ability to work a fluctuating schedule including evenings and weekends
• Official transcripts, college-stamped student copies, or non-web based unofficial transcripts must be attached to the application
• Degrees earned in the United States must be conferred by an accredited institution recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
• Degrees earned outside the United States must be validated by a NACES member organization, with an evaluation report attached before the application closing date
• Employment is contingent upon passing a drug test and completing a criminal background investigation
