Job summary

Wake Technical Community College invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach Geomatics and Surveying Technology courses. These are part-time, temporary positions with instruction designed to provide quality, effective learning experiences in assigned courses.

Qualified applicants will have an associate degree in Surveying or Geomatics and at least two years of related experience; a bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Surveying, Geomatics or related discipline is required.
• Two years of relevant experience or two years of additional education in geomatics, surveying, or related field.
• Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
• Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance; grades and returns work in a timely manner.
• Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course; designs curriculum and schedules of instruction.

Job description

Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Geomatics and Surveying Technology classes. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.

• Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
• Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
• Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
• Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
• Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
• Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
• Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
• Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
• Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
• Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
• Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
• Attends professional development opportunities when possible

Requirements:

• Associate's degree in Surveying, Geomatics or a related discipline
• Two years of relevant experience, or two years of additional education studying geomatics, surveying, or other pertinent field
• Computer skills using basic functions of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferences:

• Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics or a related field
• Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor or Professional Engineer
