Job description

Position Summary

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Being part of a pool, the applicant will be considered when a need arises during the academic year. The hiring manager will draw from the pool on an as needed basis. If your qualifications are selected, you will be contacted.


Responsibilities


  • Teach courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses.

  • Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom.

  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities assigned (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual credit).

  • Prepare instruction and engage in instructional preparation for traditional and non‑traditional learning modes.

  • Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications promptly.

  • Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion.

  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior, be available to students by appointment, and attend adjunct faculty meetings.

  • Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels, complete required training, and perform related duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Required Education: Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards; normally an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, or license must be submitted with application.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; create a professional and effective learning environment; communicate effectively with students, college personnel, peers, and public groups; respect all persons regardless of protected characteristics; exercise highest professional and ethical standards; observe College policies and procedures.


Other Requirements


  • This position is designated as a security sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check.

  • Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
