Job summary

Northeast Iowa Community College is seeking a contractual CNA adjunct instructor to deliver hands‑on nursing assistant education across classroom, lab, and clinical settings. The role includes supervising CNA students in a long‑term care facility and upholding CNA program procedures and policies.

Candidates must hold an Iowa RN license or multi‑state compact license and have at least two years of RN or LPN experience, with one year in long‑term care.

Qualifications

• Must hold an Iowa RN license or multi‑state license.
• Minimum of two years RN or LPN experience, at least one year in long‑term care.
• Experience teaching adults and/or nurse aides is preferred.
• Certification or enrollment in a “Train the Trainer” class required on accepting the Adjunct Instructor position.
• Background check and clinical compliance as per policy.

• Promptly report repairs and supplies needed for the classroom and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with members of NICC and the Health program team.
• Attend scheduled instructor meetings (1‑2 per year), as assigned.
• Know the learning objectives as defined in the curriculum.
• Become familiar with the curriculum content.
• Be familiar with the defined correct method for performing the identified skills in the curriculum.
• Deliver instruction using various modalities and strategies to meet the needs of the student learner in the classroom, lab, and/or clinical site as assigned.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a current Iowa RN License or multi‑state compact License.
• A minimum of two years of RN or LPN experience is required, with at least one year in the provision of long‑term care facility services.
• Experience in teaching adults and/or nurse aides is preferred.
• Must have certification or be enrolled in a “Train the Trainer” class upon accepting the Adjunct Instructor position.
• Must be approved by the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (college will submit).
• Clear criminal and abuse public registry background check.
• Meet clinical compliance requirements according to current policy (ex. TB Screening).
• Current Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
• Professional demeanor with strong communication and clinical skills.

Work Schedule

Contractual instructor position with flexible hours and scheduled (contracted) class assignments. This role pairs well with other full‑time or part‑time working nurses or retired nurses who are passionate about nurse aide education.
