Gwinnett Technical College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty - History to teach on-campus courses at the Lawrenceville and Alpharetta campuses. The position is part-time, non-benefited and FLSA-exempt, reporting to the Program Director of History / Political Science within the General Education Division.

Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, delivering instruction, evaluating student progress, and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate or Master\u2019s degree in History OR Master\u2019s with 18 graduate hours in History
  • Postsecondary teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to provide in-person instruction at Lawrenceville and Alpharetta campuses as scheduled

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and delivers instruction in classroom or online environment.
  • Evaluates students\' progress toward goals and objectives.
  • Maintains consistent communication with students.
  • Administers Blackboard Ultra and other software platforms as required.
  • Prepares and maintains required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Displays trustworthiness and responsible behavior and accepts direction from supervisor.
  • Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This position will report to the Lawrenceville and Alpharetta campus. Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10317): Doctorate or Master's degree in discipline (History) OR Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in discipline (History). Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, Postsecondary teaching experience. Job Description Summary: Prepares and delivers instruction in a classroom environment. The adjunct faculty position requires availability to teach on-campus classes as scheduled. Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for general core courses. Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Consistent communication with students regularly. Administers Learning Management System (Blackboard Ultra) and any 3rd party software platforms as required. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior. Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately. Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts. Candidates must be able to provide in-person instruction at our Lawrenceville and/or Alpharetta locations on assigned days and times. Duties/Responsibilities: Percentage of Time: Prepares and delivers instruction in classroom or online environment. (20%) Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. (15%) Consistent communication with students on a regular basis. (15%) Administers Learning Management System (Blackboard Ultra) and any 3rd party software platforms as required. (15%) Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. (10%) Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior. (10%) Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately. (5%) Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts. (5%) Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Gwinnett Technical College.
