Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member for Data Analytics to deliver classes and assess student progress. You will use technology to enhance instruction, adjust materials as needed, and maintain student records in alignment with college policy.

The role emphasizes proactive student engagement, inclusive teaching, and adherence to FERPA and college standards. Part-time responsibilities may include occasional additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or higher in database, data analytics, information systems, or related field.
  • Alternate master's with 18 semester hours in relevant courses beyond introductory level.
  • Alternate master's with two or more of: professional certification, two years in-field employment, teaching excellence evidence, research/publication, or 18 CEU/vocational coursework.
  • Bachelor’s in database, data analytics, information systems, or related field with two+ of: professional certification, two years in-field employment, teaching excellence evidence, research/publication, or relevant coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Utilize technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Supplement and adjust lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials as needed.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students regularly to foster a positive learning experience at Ivy Tech.

Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines and expectations.Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.Must demonstrate the ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued.This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Data Analytics Program DATA Standard:A qualified faculty member in Data Analytics DATA meets the program standard through one of four routes:Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in database, data analytics, information systems or related field as appropriate to the program; orPossesses an earned related or out-of field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in database, data analytics, information systems or related field as appropriate to the program; orPossesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:Professional certification (national, regional, or state)Two years of in-field professional employmentDocumented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of awardDocumentation of research and publication in the fieldDocumented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military: orPossesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in database, data analytics, information systems or related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following:Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the fieldTwo years of in-field professional employmentDocumented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of awardDocumentation of research and publication in the fieldDocumented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.DBMS 131 Course Standard:A qualified faculty member teaching DBMS 131 meets the Data Analytics program standard and holds a valid, non-expired Oracle SQL Fundamentals certification; Oracle Database Foundations certification; or other industry recognized SQL certification or two years of documented database administration professional employment.DBMS 230, DBMS 231, DBMS 240 and DBMS 241 Course Standard:A qualified faculty member teaching DBMS 230, DBMS 231, DBMS 240 or DBMS 241 meets the Data Analytics program standard and two years of documented SQL server professional employment.DBMS 251 Course Standard:A qualified faculty member teaching DBMS 251 meets the Data Analytics program standard and holds a valid, non-expired Oracle Administration certification or higher-level Oracle certification; or two years of documented Oracle database administration professional employment.DBMS 261 Course Standard:A qualified faculty member teaching DBMS 261 meets the Data Analytics program standard and holds a valid, non-expired CIW Data Analyst certification; or two years of documented Data Analytics professional employment.Must demonstrate ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.Ivy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
