Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member in Software Development to join our Indianapolis campus. The role entails delivering scheduled courses, leveraging technology to enhance learning, and adjusting materials as needed to meet course objectives.

You will maintain records, engage with students, and implement effective teaching strategies within FERPA guidelines. The position is part-time and operates within a supportive benefits framework for part-time staff, including

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in software development or a related field as appropriate to the program.
  • Bachelor’s degree in software development or related field with 18 semester hours beyond the introductory level.
  • Professional certification or two years of in-field professional employment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Make optimal use of technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Supplement and alter lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate student records and grades.
  • Engage with students proactively and regularly to support learning.
  • Demonstrate teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interact professionally with students and coworkers per College policies.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive educational environment.

Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines and expectations.Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.Must demonstrate the ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued.This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Software Development (SDEV) Program Standard:A qualified faculty member in Software Development (SDEV) meets the program standard through one of five routes:Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science or a computer-related field as appropriate to the program; orPossesses an earned related or out of field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science or a computer-related field as appropriate to the program; orPossesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:Professional certification (national, regional or state)Two years of in-field professional employmentDocumented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of awardDocumentation of research and publication in the fieldDocumented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military: orPossesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science or a computer-related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in one or more of the following:Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the information technology fieldTwo years of professional employment in the information technology fieldDocumentation of research and publication in the fieldDocumented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.For only SDEV 120 - Computing Logic, SDEV 140 Intro to Software Development, or SDEV 153 Web Site Development,Possesses an earned out-of-field bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the information technology fieldFour years of employment in the information technology fieldDocumentation of research and publication in the fieldDocumented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.Must demonstrate ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.Ivy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
