Job summary

Adjunct instructors teach up to 12 credits in fall/spring or up to 8 credits in summer, with appointments renewed per semester.

Qualifications

• Current Virginia EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic certification or eligibility.
• Current healthcare provider CPR certification.
• Demonstrated subject matter competency in EMS.
• Ability to communicate with diverse learners.
• Strong organizational and instructional skills.
• Ability to teach EMS skills and patient care procedures.
• Ability to travel to instructional sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Teach EMS courses (EMR/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic) to assigned students.
• Deliver in-person, lab, simulation, and online EMS instruction.
• Develop syllabi, lesson plans, exams, and instructional materials.
• Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain attendance, grading, and student records.
• Submit required reports by deadlines.
• Advise students and provide remediation as needed.
• Ensure compliance with Virginia EMS regulations and accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with program leadership and clinical partners.
• Utilize LMS and instructional technology to support learning.
• Maintain EMS teaching credentials and qualifications.
