Job summary

Southwest Virginia Community College seeks an Adjunct Faculty - Hybrid AEMT to teach EMS programs at the Lebanon Center in Virginia. The role includes delivering EMS instruction across EMR, EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic courses, developing syllabi, and assessing student progress in a hybrid teaching format.

Adjunct faculty teach up to 12 credit hours in fall/spring and up to 8 in summer. Appointments are semester-by-semester with requirements to meet EMS standards and maintain certifications.

Qualifications

• Current Virginia EMT/Advanced EMT/Paramedic certification or eligibility.
• Current healthcare provider CPR certification.
• Competency in EMS subject matter.
• Ability to communicate with diverse student groups.
• Strong organizational and instructional skills.
• Ability to demonstrate EMS skills and patient care procedures.
• Ability to lift and handle EMS training equipment.
• Ability to teach in-person, hybrid, and online formats.
• Ability to travel to instructional sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned EMS courses following approved outcomes and standards.
• Deliver classroom, lab, simulation, clinical, and field instruction.
• Develop and maintain syllabi, lesson plans, exams, and materials.
• Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain attendance, grading, and student records.
• Submit reports and documentation by deadlines.
• Support student success through advising and mentoring.
• Ensure compliance with EMS requirements and accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with program leadership and partners.
• Utilize instructional technology and LMS for teaching and learning.
• Maintain current EMS credentials and instructional qualifications.
