Job summary

Del Mar College seeks an Adjunct to teach or assist in dental assisting courses, labs, and clinic sites. You will maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community while delivering instruction and hands-on supervision in a dental setting.

The position requires an Associate degree for labs/clinical or a Bachelor's for didactic courses, plus three years of clinical four-handed dentistry and current RDA and CDA credentials with CPR/BLS. Residency in Texas is required.

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to teach and/or assist in assigned dental assisting courses, labs, and clinic sites and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree if instructing a lab or clinical.
• Bachelor’s degree if instructing a didactic course.

Three (3) years of clinical experience in the field using four-handed dentistry skills.

Current license as a Registered Dental Assistant ( RDA ) through the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners ( TSBDE ).

Current credential as a Certified Dental Assistant ( CDA ) through the Dental Assisting National Board ( DANB ).

Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation ( CPR ) / Basic Life Support ( BLS ) for the Healthcare Provider certification.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching at the secondary or college level.

Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and material to assist who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes. Evaluate and grade students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes. Advise students throughout classroom/lab/clinical hours as needed.
