Job summary

The Workforce Development Division at the Community College of Philadelphia seeks an experienced adjunct faculty member to teach Precision Machining CNC. The instructor will guide students through CNC operation, Haas equipment, reading prints, G and M code, and prepare for NIMS Machining Level 1.

Classes occur on weekdays, typically one day per week, 9:00 am–3:00 pm, with potential for additional days and evening sessions. The role may develop into a full-time opportunity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum five years hands-on precision machining experience.
• Experience working on HAAS machines.
• Trades certifications demonstrating training on CNC machines, particularly HAAS equipment.
• Strong expertise with HAAS machines, Drill Press, Milling Machines, and Lathes.
• Knowledge of work safety protocols in machining operations.
• Ability to prepare students for NIMS Machining Level 1.
• Excellent communication to convey complex concepts.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.
• Previous teaching or instructional experience.
• Ten years hands-on precision machining experience.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in CNC machining concepts using HAAS machines.
• Provide hands-on training in setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines.
• Teach the use of Drill Press, Milling Machines, and Lathes.
• Prepare students for NIMS Machining Level 1.
• Develop and deliver engaging curriculum to enhance learning outcomes.
• Evaluate student progress through assessments and lab work.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with Workforce Development staff for successful delivery of courses.
