Job summary

Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) is building a pool of adjunct and substitute instructors to teach Automotive Technician courses. Opportunities may arise before or during each semester.

Applicants submit materials to be considered for future openings; selections are made as needs arise, with notification via provided contact information. Adjunct instructors are hired per course and may teach face-to-face, online, or a hybrid format.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related field OR an associate’s degree in any field with a technical diploma in Automotive Maintenance. If all other knowledge, skills, and abilities are present, candidates in process of completing an associate’s degree may be considered with an agreement to complete within a predetermined amount of time after hire.
  • ASE-Certified Master Automobile & Light Truck Technician. A1-A8, G1, L1-3 and ability to renew every five years.
  • Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in a target job for the program or programs being taught, of which at least 1 year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to date of hire. One year (2,000 hours) of recent related occupational experience may be waived if the instructor has at least 2 years of post−secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years prior to date of hire.
  • EPA 609 MVAC Certification for Automotive Air Conditioning.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred but not required.
  • ASE Instructors must attend a minimum of 20 hours of recognized automotive industry technical update training each year that is relevant to their program.

Responsibilities

  • Plan for and instruct courses in the area of Automotive Technician.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction through the planning and implementation of effective learning strategies and environments.
  • Create performance-based assessments aligned with competencies through formative and summative measures.
  • Promote student success through timely communication, growth-based feedback, and implementation of strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Meet professional expectations by maintaining professional currency and contributing to a collaborative culture across the College.
