Job summary

Frederick Community College seeks an adjunct instructor to teach a one-day Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid course for teens aged 14–16. You will deliver hands-on training using the AHA curriculum and help students gain confidence to respond in pediatric emergencies.

The role requires in-person teaching on Saturdays, an active AHA instructor credential, and prior CPR/first aid teaching experience. Compensation is $38/hour and all applications are submitted online.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Current AHA Instructor certification (e.g., Heartsaver or BLS Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED).
• Experience teaching CPR, first aid, healthcare, emergency response, or related safety courses.
• Available to teach in-person classes on Saturdays.
• Willing and able to teach the course at least once during each academic year.
• Must maintain all required certifications throughout employment.
• Must be able to lift and transport CPR training equipment as needed.
• Ability to demonstrate and evaluate CPR skills accurately.
• Ability to pass any required background checks in accordance with organizational policies.

Position Summary:

Seeking a CPR adjunct instructor to teach our one-day Heartsaver® CPR/AED/First Aid courses for students ages 14–16. Minimum Qualifications:

1. At least 18 years of age.
2. Hold a current AHA Instructor certification, such as:
   • Heartsaver Instructor, or
   • BLS Instructor (BLS Instructors are authorized to teach all Heartsaver courses, including Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED).
3. Experience teaching CPR, first aid, healthcare, emergency response, or related safety courses.
4. Must be available to teach in‑person classes on Saturdays.
5. Must be willing and able to teach the course at least once during each academic year.
6. Must maintain all required certifications throughout employment.
7. Must be able to lift and transport CPR training equipment as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience working with youth, teens, students, or educational programs preferred.
2. Strong presentation, communication, and classroom management skills.
3. AA degree or above, preferably in healthcare or allied health field.
