Job summary

Wake Technical Community College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach American Heart Association courses on a part-time, temporary basis. Openings may be available now or contacted later after qualifications review.

Responsibilities include delivering instruction, maintaining records, grading, counseling students, and staying current with teaching methods and technology. Credentialed AHA instructors or equivalents preferred.

Qualifications

• Credentialed as an American Heart Association instructor, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors and staff.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
• Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
• Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
• Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Grades and returns student work in a timely manner.
• Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.
• Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course.
• Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction.
• Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
• Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate.
• Stays abreast of current teaching methods and technology in the classroom.
• Attends professional development opportunities when possible.

Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.
