Job summary

Divergent is pushing the frontier of aerospace and automotive manufacturing with additive manufacturing. We seek an hands-on Additive Manufacturing Equipment Engineer II to transition L-PBF production equipment from development to high-volume manufacturing and to stabilize the fleet across multiple factories.

You will work with senior engineers to stabilize new machines, improve reliability, and build standards that scale with the fleet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
• 4–6 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, reliability engineering, or advanced production environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and/or controls systems.
• Experience with structured root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., RCCA, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and maintenance teams.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the transition of newly developed production equipment from qualification into sustained manufacturing.
• Drive improvements in equipment reliability, throughput, yield, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, and process-related issues affecting production.
• Apply and improve engineering standards to ensure consistency across production assets.
• Provide production feedback to design engineering on machine performance and reliability.
• Support technical investigations and RCCA for equipment failures.
• Contribute to cost reduction through equipment optimization and process improvements.
• Support capital equipment installation, commissioning, and production readiness activities.
