Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago, IL, seeks a Senior Scientist I to join the ADC Process Development group. You will design and perform experiments for ADC conjugation and purification, analyze data, and support process characterization, tech transfer, and regulatory submissions.

You will work cross-functionally with Analytical, Engineering and Manufacturing teams, mentor others, and contribute as a primary author or inventor on publications, presentations, and regulatory documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with relevant experience
• Strong analytical skills and logical thinking
• Maintains certifications as needed for tasks
• Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline

Responsibilities

• Routinely demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity in research or development activities.
• Autonomous and productive in laboratory research or method development with minimal supervision.
• Formulate conclusions and design follow-on experiments based on multidisciplinary data.
• Initiate new areas of investigation that are meaningful and can be incorporated into programs.
• Primary author of publications, presentations, regulatory documents and/or primary inventor of patents.
• Demonstrates high proficiency across a wide range of relevant technologies.
• Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab and/or pilot plant.
• Adhere to corporate standards regarding safety, GxP compliance, and handling of materials.
• Direct mentorship of others.
• Perform ADC conjugation and purification operations from lab to pilot-scale.
• Perform routine sample preparation and operation of HPLC-based analytical assays.
