Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Scientist II/Sr Scientist I for Analytical R&D in Illinois. The role develops and optimizes analytical methods, enabling reliable data generation for drug substance and product in preclinical and clinical programs.

Candidates will perform chromatography and spectroscopic analyses, transfer methods, and generate regulatory-ready data. Collaboration with PCS, Process Chemistry, QA and other cross-functional teams is expected to drive pipeline progression with scientific rigor.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry with 7+ years experience or MS with 5+ years experience.
• Hands-on experience with chromatography (HPLC, UPLC, GC) and spectroscopic techniques.
• Proficiency with Waters Empower CDS and SLIMS for electronic data management.
• Strong problem-solving and written/spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs method development, testing procedures, and analytical control strategies.
• Applies analytical separation and detection modes for impurity profiling.
• Contributes to analytical aspects of projects across development stages.
• Uses broad analytical techniques to study small molecules and impurities.
