Job summary

Intrinsic Schools in Chicago seeks a dedicated Substitute Teacher to support daily instruction across Belmont and Downtown campuses. You will follow lesson plans, manage classrooms, and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.

You will adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs, communicate progress with students, families, and staff, and uphold equity and high expectations for all learners.

Qualifications

• A valid and current Substitute Teacher license highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in education.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Follows lesson plans provided by the teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
• Manages the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
• Adapts teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
• Supervises students in and out of the classroom, including in the hallway
• Provides in‑class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan
• Communicates necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents (if needed) regarding student progress and student needs.
• Demonstrates preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
• For long‑term substitutes: develops lesson plans and assignments consistent with the teacher’s past lesson plans
