Job summary

The role involves following provided lesson plans, maintaining established routines, and ensuring safety while delivering instruction.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid State of Illinois SUBSTITUTE LICENSE.

Responsibilities

• Guides the learning process toward curriculum goals and communicates objectives to students as adopted by the Board of Education.
• Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival.
• Maintains routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
• Teaches lessons as outlined by the absent teacher.
• Performs extra duties for the absent teacher as required by the principal.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated times and locations.
• Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policies.
• Assists administration in implementing policies governing student life and classroom conduct.
• Provides availability to students and parents outside instructional day when required.
• Continually strives to improve professional competence and collaborate with colleagues.
• Attends staff meetings and participates in committees when assigned.
• Promotes public relations for the school's programs and activities.
• Becomes acquainted with parents and reports unusual occurrences to the principal.
• Remains at school during the entire school day unless excused.
• Implements district rules and guidelines and maintains professional appearance.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and incorporates technology in daily tasks.
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
