Job summary

YMCA Adaptive Sports program in Mukilteo, WA is seeking a part-time coordinator to develop, organize, and implement high-quality adaptive sports programs for youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with an initial focus on adaptive basketball.

The role is approximately 15 hours per week with flexible scheduling based on program needs, and involves staffing, budgeting, compliance, and community engagement within YMCA policies.

Qualifications

• One year or more experience as a coordinator or supervisor of programs.
• Two years or more experience working with youth and/or adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Experience with adaptive recreation, sports, or inclusive programming preferred.
• Basic computer skills/knowledge required.
• Fluency in second language preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage, direct and coordinate assigned adaptive sports programs.
• Develop and launch adaptive basketball programming, including program structure, participant recruitment, staffing and volunteer needs, equipment, scheduling, registration, and program delivery.
• Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed.
• Review and evaluate staff performance, develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
• Ensure program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
• Assure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
• Ensure YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
• Provide for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
• Maintain relationships with participants, families/caregivers, and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
• Organize special events for participants
• Assist in YMCA fund raising activities
• Assist with Program Committee meetings
• Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program
• Adapt program activities and delivery as appropriate to support participant needs, abilities, engagement, and success
• Provide administrative and operational support to other adaptive programs as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned
