Job summary

YMCA in Washington is seeking a part-time Sports Program Assistant to help run youth clinics, camps, and leagues. You will coach, encourage, and organize activities, promoting a safe, active, and fun environment for participants of varied ages and backgrounds.

You will support coaches, manage equipment and attendance, and help create positive experiences that build confidence and teamwork among youth and families.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 (18 for adult leagues).
• Experience playing or coaching youth sports preferred.
• Strong communication with youth and adults.
• Ability to relate to children and diverse groups.
• Completion of Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training before working with children.
• Evenings and/or weekends availability.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist with youth sports clinics, camps, and leagues.
• Teach basic skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Adapt instruction to participants’ ages and skill levels.
• Be a positive role model and build confidence.
• Assist with equipment setup, inventory, and distribution.
• Maintain attendance for classes and programs.
• Collaborate with coaches, referees, and staff to run games.
• Create safe, welcoming environments.
