Job summary

NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities is seeking a professional to design, build, and maintain adaptive equipment for individuals in need of support. The position requires hands-on fabrication skills in carpentry, machining, and related trades, with experience in adaptive equipment development for individuals.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience designing and manufacturing adaptive equipment; or two years of skilled experience in carpentry or a related trade, with one year of that experience involving design and manufacture of adaptive equipment for individuals.

Responsibilities

• Designs, constructs, modifies, and maintains adaptive equipment for individuals.
• Collaborates with treatment teams to assess equipment needs and determines design or modifications.
• Assembles equipment and adapts measurement specifications to meet requirements.
• Coordinates with manufacturers or vendors for inspections or repairs of lift equipment and beds.
• Provides training to clinical staff on proper use and maintenance.
• Maintains service schedules and repairs equipment constructed in-house or commercially available.
• Maintains shop workspace, updates inventory, and submits purchase-order estimates.
• Documents work, maintains logs, and submits finalized orders.
