Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Clinical Nurse, UMMS Staffing (USC) to provide safe, evidence-based nursing care across inpatient, surgical, and ambulatory settings. Employed by the Staffing Center, you will be deployed to units based on need and validated competencies.

Responsibilities include direct and indirect care, comprehensive assessments, documentation in the EMR, collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, safe medication administration, and leadership in unit

Qualifications

• Active Maryland RN license or eligibility through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• BLS certification; ACLS/PALS/NRP/NIHSS may be required based on unit competencies.
• Minimum of two years of recent acute care nursing experience within the past 12 months.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care appropriate to the patient population and acuity.
• Performs comprehensive patient assessments and documents care in the EMR.
• Collaborates with patients, families, charge nurses, nurse managers, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Safely administers medications and uses clinical equipment per policy.
• Delegates and supervises nursing care activities consistent with the Nurse Practice Act and policy.
• Demonstrates professionalism and adaptability when transitioning between units.
• Adheres to evidence-based practice and regulatory standards to promote safety and quality.
• Identifies and reports patient safety risks, adverse events, and near misses.
• Supports unit operations and staffing needs, including performing unit-based roles as appropriate.
• Participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintains current RN licensure and required certifications; completes ongoing education.
